SACRIFICE & SERVICE

"Offer your body as a living sacrifice, acceptable and pleasing to God."
     - St. Paul (Romans 12:1)

The class is about the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. It is about going out into the world and being the hands and feet of Christ. God desires all of his children to be with him in heaven, and what we do to the least of his people we do to him. As human beings, we have an amazing power to make a difference in other people's lives. Every person we reach through a kind gesture or kind word has a multiplier effect. When we come to the end of our life, we will discover just how important our role is and just how united we all are. It will be like that movie "It's a Wonderful Life", and we will see how many souls we directly or indirectly helped get to heaven. When we unite our meaningless sacrifices and sufferings to the one true sacrifice of Christ, they become a "participation in the saving work of Jesus."  (Catechism of the Catholic Church paragraph 1521) What a great power with a great responsibility. What a beautiful mission...the salvation of souls. Embrace the mission.
