THEOLOGY OF THE BODY

"...the body and in fact and it alone is capable of making visible what is invisible: the spiritual and the divine, it was created to transfer into the visible reality of the world the mystery of God and thus to be a sign of it."
     - John Paul II

This class is about John Paul II's great teaching that helps us discover who we are and why we are here. In a world so confused about the meaning of our bodies, this teaching is needed now more than ever. When we see our bodies through the lens of the Theology of the Body, we come to discover that we are made in the image and likeness of the one true God and we are meant to make his love visible to the world. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and we should glorify God by offering our bodies as "a living sacrifice".

Our culture gives a very conflicting view about the meaning of our bodies. The culture says self-indulge, the Church says self-discipline. The culture says go out and get what you want, the Church says give everything you have. The culture says "if it feels good do it", the Church says "pick up your cross and follow Christ". The culture says love is a feeling, the Church says love is a choice. The question is, who do you trust, the culture or the Church?  "Man cannot live without love. He remains a being that is incomprehensible for himself, his life is senseless, if love is not revealed to him." -John Paul II
